Answer

Can I automate replies to Shopify customer emails?

Yes, up to the send button. A build can read new customer email every 15 minutes, sort it, look up the order and leave a reply drafted in your own words, filled with the right order details. You read each draft, fix it if needed and send it yourself. Our Email replies example works this way, with Gmail and a Google Sheet of your orders.

The order details come from a Google Sheet with the order number, email, status, tracking and delivery date. For a Shopify store, that sheet can be filled from your order export.

It drafts only when the order number is in that sheet and the email on the order matches the sender. AI wording is off by default, and when it is on, any number it adds that is not in the order facts sends the email to a person.

What the build does

  1. It reads new emailEvery 15 minutes it looks at unread customer email in your Gmail inbox.
  2. It sorts each oneWhere is my order, return or refund, hours or location, change an order, complaint, or anything else.
  3. It looks up the orderIt finds the order number in your Orders sheet and checks that it belongs to the person asking.
  4. It leaves a draftYour approved reply, filled with the order facts, waits in the Gmail thread. You send it. Anything it cannot answer gets a "needs a person" label instead.

What still waits for a person

  • Every reply. It writes drafts only. A person reads each one and presses send in Gmail.
  • The reply templates. Each kind of question drafts only after you mark its template approved.
  • Complaints, unclear emails, and orders it cannot match to the sender. These get the "needs a person" label and no draft.
  • AI rewording. It stays off until you switch it on, and a draft where the AI added a number that is not in the order facts goes to a person instead.

What it needs from you

  • A Google account with Gmail
  • Your orders in a Google Sheet (order number, email, status, tracking, delivery date)
  • Your replies for each kind of question
  • Your hours and address

This is one example running on made-up data. Yours is shaped by what the diagnostic finds, so it may look different, or the honest answer may be to build nothing.
